Lift car operating panel
Lift car operating panels are components that allow users to give instructions and to receive information from the lift that is universally understood.
These panels include the remote alarm device used to manage emergencies.

What's inside a lift operating panel?
All lift car operating panels must comply with strict accessibility standards. In particular, they must feature buttons that are a different colour to the panel faceplate, with raised buttons at least 5 mm in height to assist visually impaired users. Mandatory buttons include:
o a display indicating the direction of travel or the floor served,
o a sign stating the number of persons and the load that are permitted inside the car
o a remote alarm system controlled from the panel
o emergency lighting
o a button for each floor of the building accessible to the public or residents, positioned in ascending order from bottom to top
o a door reopen button (for safety and user convenience)
o a key switch or access control device (optional)
The spacing between the lift car operating panel buttons is also regulated. There should be at least 10 mm between each of the floor buttons, and the floor buttons should be spaced at least 30 mm from the door open and remote alarm buttons.
Lift car operating panels must also contain information about the load: maximum laden weight and capacity as the number of passengers
Finally, a lift car display in the form of an LCD or TFT screen must be installed. It will show users the number of the current floor and the direction the lift is travelling. You can customise the screen to display any other information that you wish. The screen must be large enough to be visible from anywhere inside the car, even by visually impaired people.
